“Never underestimate the day of small beginnings.”

Our Testimony

In January 2025, I received a message from God to stop striving and start abiding in Him. Through a 40-day fast and reading the book of Romans, I felt called to start a business, despite initial doubts and concerns about my capabilities and resources.

Inspired by Zechariah 4:10 and the encouragement of a friend, I named the business “Small Beginnings,” reflecting my trust in God’s plan and the significance of small steps.

Through faith, community, and self-discovery, I embraced my calling and recognized the potential for my business to positively impact the community.

Meet the Founder

Hi my name is September Kennedy. I am a registered nurse and an IBCLC bringing 7 years of nursing expertise, including 3.5 years in postpartum care and 2 years in pediatric nursing. I have been immersed in the field of lactation for nearly a year, primarily in a hospital setting, while also gaining some outpatient experience. Although my in-depth journey into lactation has just begun, I have been supporting breastfeeding mothers throughout my entire career over the past five years, regardless of my workplace, and I have breastfed two of my own children.

My passion lies in educating mothers and mothers-to-be about the benefits and significance of breastfeeding. I aim to empower you with the knowledge to navigate challenges when things don’t go as planned. Additionally, I want to be part of your support village during this vulnerable time in your life, helping you flourish during the crucial fourth trimester of postpartum.

Why may you need or want support from a IBCLC?

Receive critical prenatal education, have the opportunity to practice new skills, and make a game plan/goal so that you feel more confident and prepared for when you baby arrives.

Receive one-on-one assistance right at your front door in the first few days/weeks after coming home from the hospital with a lacation consultant who can assess latching, weight, and proper transfer to ensure that your little one is getting enough breastmilk relieving undue stress and anxiety.

Assist with pumping and bottle feeding including tripple feeding, maintaining supply when returning to work, assessing correct flange size, moving from breast to bottle or vis versa, re-lactating, etc.

Lactation consultants help with navigating challenges that could potentially arise such as feeding challenges, weight gain issues, low milk supply, nipple pain, trauma, mastitis, oversupply, engorgement, etc.

“September was amazing! Attending the breastfeeding class was a reassuring and informative experience for me. It helped me better understand proper latch techniques, feeding cues, and what to expect in the early days.
